Blackwall HItch, is a  restaurant that opened TODAY on the waterfront in Alexandria, VA. It is located in a former food court, so it is huge!  It has an outdoor area in front and in back of the building, and boasts two spacious dining floors, several bars (including a patio bar) and seating for large groups.  I thought the decor was beautiful and the signature blue canning jars were a nice touch. It also has live music Wed.-Sat. and a jazz brunch on Sunday’s.  The food and the ambience were both great!  I definitely recommend dining at Blackwall Hitch.  I’ll be planning a brunch date soon!

Steamed PEI Mussels roasted in a delicate White Wine Garlic Sauce

The Prince Edward Island (PEI) Canada mussels grow naturally in nutrient-rich waters.  The mussels were huge and have superior flavor.  This was an excellent appetizer!

Bayou Penne with jumbo shrimp, andouille sausage and grilled chicken served over pasta with a creamy chipotle sauce.
